  1. -Braxton hicks are only in your stomach and the real contractions start in your lower back and stretch across your stomach.

-Also feel the tip of your nose. Now feel your forehead. Bh's feel like your nose--hard but kind of squishy and real contractions feel rock solid like your forehead.

-Also with Bh's if you walk, change positions, lay on your side, etc they should stop but real contractions will not.

    Good luck!

  2. I'm not sure to be honest as I'm not quite there myself but the advice they give over and over is that established labour won't settle when you change what you are doing (eg walking to sitting or viceversa) also that false labour is irregular over a period of time, wait at least 6 or 7 contractions to be sure that they are really coming at regular intervals, although this doesn't always apply. They reckon that you just know but I don't know about that one. Just don't ignore any signs, and stay in contact with your caregivers they'll be able to help you when it happens

  3. This is something i have asked.  Apparently its just one of those things that you 'know' when it is happening.

As far as i have figured out true labor comes consistantly and the contractions come frequently and increase in pain- eg 10 mins apart (could be less could be more often- just depends what stage your at).

False labor is more at the top of the uterus and come irregularly and dont tend to increase in pain.

    hope this helps

  4. when your contractions are closer together like every two mins it's time sweetie

  5. Your contractions will be at regular intervals, and they will get longer, stronger and closer together. When you have false labor, your contractions will be very erratic. You can also try walking, eating, taking a bath or taking a nap. If changing whatever you are doing makes your contractions stop, its false labor. If they don't, get a stopwatch and start timing them.

  6. ohh you know!

you'll probably go to the hospital a few time before real labor though thinking its real, that happened to me i would get contractions which made me anxious so i would go. then when i was in real labor i knew it!! it is just something you knoww
