  1. let him out and see

  2. He won't, regardless of how tame he is. I had a parakeet that I had hand reared because he was orphaned. My nephew walked outside with him on this shoulder, and he flew away. Even being completely bonded to me, he would not come to me, and we lost him.  You should always keep your pet bird's wings clipped to avoid accidents like that one. It's for the best of the bird.

  3. Don't take the chance.  My dad once had a bird for like 2 years and when he took it outside it flew away and didn't come back.  It doesn't matter how long you've had him birds will fly away.

    I hope this helped!

  4. You don't because unless a miracle happens, he will not.  He's much much more likely to die lonely, scared, and in pain from a predator, dehydration, starvation, dangerous weather, a disease, or one of many other things.  It's as irresponsible as dumping a human child in a remote forest because parakeets do not have homing instincts and pet ones have no idea how to take care of themselves, as they were bred to depend completely on humans, and are most likely not even native to where you live anyway.  Even if your bird is your best friend and likes nothing more than to be on you, there's no way to control when something will startle him and make him fly off.  Even if his wings are clipped, that's not going to help if he's already outside and catches even a slight breeze.  Parakeet species are generally very small and light, so that breeze will take them away.

  5. i certainly wouldn't risk it because if he decides to fly away it means certain death from native species of birds. however if you still want to try it i would recommend getting its wings trimmed so that it can only glide away. Ask your vet to tim it so that it can only GLIDE. some vets may only trim the wings very short so that it is still possible for flight to take place.

  6. More than likey if set free outside your bird will fly away, so Don't.

These birds we keep donot know how to fly well or know how to find food and they often become food for prey birds and cats.

Only birds that are trained in Free Flight after time can be trusted to return to the owner and then often they fly off never to be seen again.

  7. If your bird gets the chance to fly off, he will.  And in most cases, they do not come back to the owner.  They may hang around the house for awhile, but in most cases, they are not caught again.  Birds are not like homing pigeons.  No matter how close you think you and your bird are, he will fly off.  I have seen this many, many times, even when people have had their birds for 20 years or more.  Please read my profile.
