How will it effect a 9 year old.?

How will a new baby effect a 9 year old boy? He is my step son and we have him 50 % of the time. I'm worried it will cause problems for him and within the family.

Anyone with experience please help.

i was 9 1/2 when my sister was born. it caused a lot of problems becuz she has cerbral palsy and got all this special attention becuz she is special. I felt very left out. I felt like she took my mommy away. so as long as you give your son  lots of attention and even xtra attention i think he will be o-kay. if everyone dotes on the new baby he will become resentful angry and depressed.

It all depends how you integrate the new baby.  If you make him part of the caring and providing and not a just a chore for him or excluding him from it.

Still make individual time for him as well.

Just make sure that you and him spend some time together. He's 9 not 3. He'll be fine as long as he get what he wants. Trust me. As long as his life isn't affected in a negative way he will truly not care. Like I said, he's 9, not 3. He just might want to help with his brother/sister. Ask him his thoughts on the baby. He will tell you and then you know what next steps you need to take.

Final note: Don't stress over this, that's not good for YOU or BABY.
