How will my AP score(s) affect me in collage?

Well, i took the AP Human Geography test and scored a 3. ;_; (wanted at least a 4)

Seeing as i at least passed the test, how far will this get me in collages? I don't know much about collage, least of all which one i'm going to. I don't even know the collages' names in my state.

I don't know anything about collage (zero, nada). What courses are mandatory?

I have two brothers in collage, but i don't collaborate with them, so i'm pretty much left in the dark. I overheard however that you only take 4 courses in collage?

Please, anyone send me a link explaining collages or something, schools, and how will my AP score affect me in collage.

  1. It's spelled "college." Are you sure you took AP courses?

Figure out what college you want to go to then request information from them. If you provide what your intended major is, the will even send you information about the particular courses needed for that degree. Once you are accepted and what not, you either take a placement test or use ACT/SAT scores to determine your classes.

I'm not sure if AP classes count as college credit (my high school didn't offer them) but since they are more difficult they will help you transition to college classes.

You pick your classes in college. Its pretty cool. You pick the times, within limits. To be considered "full time" you take between 12 and 18 credit hours. (A credit hour is how many hours a week you have that class, basically) Over 18, they usually charge you beyond normal tuition. Again, find what college you want to attend and ask your academic advisor all of these questions.

Try a search to find a college you might like:

  2. wellmy high school didnt offer AP courses and i got into college just fine. there are classes that are mandatory depending on your degree and/or major. where i go all students must no matter what you are majoring take english and history of western civ. there isnt a certain number of classes you have to take. you are however either a full time student or part time. each class is worth a certain number of credit hours and 12 credit hours or more equals full time at my school. if you need any other help feel free to ask i will try my best!!!

  3. It all depends on the college but most accept scores of three and higher. Depending on the AP cousre you might not have to take a general required course which are required core courses (math, scinece, english, etc.) reqired courses slightly differ depending on what degree you want a Bachelor of Arts will require language courses and a bachelor of Science will require math or science courses.

In my case I entered college with 12 AP credit so my english composition, english lit and american history is all taken care of. If I wanted to continue with french I could've taken a clep test and finished my language reqirements but I decided to take spanish. Dont stress about college. Are you a Junior or Senior? Hope I helped :) email me if you have anymore questions.
