I got a score of 27 on the ACT without the essay having been graded yet. When my essay is graded and factored into the composite score, if I got a perfect grade on the essay, how much could it raise my score?

  1. colleges dont look at the essay score...but they affect your score

  2. Colleges don't use the essay portion of the ACT or SAT (yet?).

27 is a great score.  Nice job.

EDIT: To the person above.  It is a new portion of both the ACT and SAT.  No school considers either yet in their admissions.  That is why the composite score will not be affected by the writing section.  One example of a school that ignores the writing portion is given below.  If you can find a counterexample (ie a school that does require the writing section) please email me and i will stand corrected.

  3. The essay doesn't affect your composite score. However, you are given a separate score which combines your English multiple choice and your essay. A perfect essay score counts the same as a 36 so you can just add your multiple choice english score to that (36) and then divide the total by 2.

Example: Let's say you got a 30 on the English multiple choice.

(30+36)/2 = 33. That is your English/Writing subscore. Your composite score is 27.

EDIT: Note to the person below me: Yes they do. What makes you think that they don't??

  4. i dont think it will
