I have a misdemeanor charge for theft at walmart, was 17 (am now 20),was tried as an adult. Was with 3 other people (whom also stole)..they put the amount together, which totaled $100, and they took us to jail, stayed there for one night, and was bonded out $300...I took makeup & tylenol...totally stupid....very big/huge mistake...however, I have not gotten into any trouble since then...I am majoring in accounting...will employers see this as a bad sign? Will they even accept me as a new employee??? How will this affect my life, future, etc....please advise...thank you.

  1. You're fine, not a felony.

  2. First, you were 17, most people do stupid things at 17. There are 3 factors invovled in what happens wth jobs. 1) TIME:  How long has it been since the crime was committed; 2) HISTORY: Was there any criminal history prior, and more importantly, has there been any since; 3) REHABILITATION: What positive things have you done with your life since this offense.

    1: It's been 3 years

    2. You have stayed out of trouble

    3. You are attending College and living a law abiding life

Looks to me like you are going to be just fine!

    Good Luck

  3. You are fine because it was a misdemeanor.
