  1. I'm gonna guess that you are going to be riding this SB western, NOT huntseat.

It depends upon the type of SB.  I know 3 gaited type that outside of having a little more action and carrying their heads a lot higher, go as nicely as any QH.  You'll feel a bit more movement at the jog and the lope is MORE like a rocking horse

  2. The quarter horse is like riding a chevy pick-up. If the Saddlebred is a saddleseat horse it will be more like riding a freight train and Ferrari mixed.........

That being said if the Saddlebred is more hunter type or western type you should have a more animated/ elastic (bouncy) gait, the canter should be more upright and collected

If this is a saddleseat horse remember to sit up straight, hold the horse fairly straight and let the horse drive itself through your corners and you should be just fine....

  3. HE MIGHT BUCK YOU

  4. Oh I don't know

  5. I always find it is more comfortable riding gaited horses. They will feel really different though. It is more of a rocking motion than the flat footed w/t/c.  I don't know enough about them to tell you how to adjust but for the most part they are really easy to figure out especially if you are just hacking. I would not attempt to adjust their step/stride because on your first ride they do know a whole lot more than you about the way they go. Have fun tommorow!

  6. If will feel quite different (rather springy, ha)

Whether it is comfortable depends less on the breed, and more on the gates of the individual horse.

    I

  7. You'll be dealing with a horse that is very animated, a lot of action coming from the front end and no doubt unlike anything you've ever ridden before.  You didn't say whether or not this is a ASB pleasure horse, a three gait, or five gait.  The three and five gaited horses will deliver the action and animation up front.

  8. just let it kinda have its head until you get the hand of its stride
