  1. It can help us get breakthroughs with degenerative diseases like parkinsons, alzheimers, heart diseases, ms, diabetes, spinal cord injuries, amputated limbs and more.

It can also (in many years) make us able to clone humans.

  2. Supposedly regrow nerves in the spine? Hopefully regrow a missing finger, return eye sight to an injured soldier etc. etc.  Cure degenerative diseases like parkinsons, MS, etc. etc.

Some Japanese Co. claims they can get these cells from umbilical cord cells?  Don't know.  Big controversy over getting them from embryo's, as you already know.  Christians say it's murder.  Kind of crazy thinking to me, that an embryo at the cell level is a "human".  You know, couples that have trouble conceiving go to these fertility clinics etc.  That get eggs fertilized in vitro (outside the womb).  Usually have a bunch of fertilized eggs (embryo's).  The embryo's they don't stick back into the woman, are kept on ice for a while.  In America there are literally ten of thousands of fertilized eggs/embryos on ice.  After a year or two on ice, these embryo's go bad.  Freezer burn or something?  They get thrown out.  I don't know if these pro life Christians are naive or just stupid?  Using their own standards and rule book, these discarded embryo's are all murder??  America is murdering in the 100's of thousands every year by the Christian definition!  Seems like we could at least use these embryo's for stem cell research???  Believe it or not, I've know of two different couples that are real Christian pro-life. They also went to fertility clinics years back to assist having their children.  Now unless the doctor put back every fertilized egg (very unusual), into the woman, they're murderers and don't even realize it??  Being the polite and discrete fellow that I am, I've never brought the subject up.
