Question:

How will the Delta NW merger work out?

-Will there be a new livery, newer than Delta's Citgo livery?

-How will the fleets integrate, Boeing and Airbus? (Will the DC-9s stay?)

-Will flight #s be worked the way US and America West did where all up to X are on Delta metal and all above X are on NW metal?

Thanks

  1. As for the DC-9 fleet, Northwest already has plan to retire the entire fleet this year and replace them with EMB-170/180/190 series planes.  The DC-9 fleet will be retired regardless of if the merger goes through or not.  I would guess that they will go through with the deliveries of the new planes all depends on the details of the merger.

  2. From what I've read the combined airline will be named Delta.  Delta insisted on this from the beginning.  Delta was an all Boeing Airline with the exception of the airbus planes the rest of the fleet should mesh well with Delta's.  The fleet may change over time but all planes will probably end up with the latest Delta livery and not a new one. N/W has almost 350 planes so it could take a while.  NW also has 787s on order and about 50 on option.

  3. I think the'll probably liquidate the DC-9's and keep the Airbuses initially, then eventually get rid of them too. Kind of like when AA took over TWA, and had the 717's for a while. The reason is because on the long run, the airline saves money if they have fewer types of aircraft.(maintenance, spare parts, flight &  cabin crew training). I don't see a need for new livery, they change their liver way too much anyway hahaha

  4. they are so broke (so they say) I hope they die quick

  5. Not good!
