Will the 5 reciever offense be enough to catapult the Rider's to the Grey Cup? Will the defense be weak without Nate Davis, Scott Gordon, and Omar Morgan?

  1. Dude i am the biggest rider fan, my room is green with gear, but to be honest they have the 5 amazing recivers but i personally dont think kerry or marcus will be able to make enough throws to make it very far, they might if they get lucky make the playoffs but they wont make it to the grey cup after all those loses in the offseaon

  2. Roughriders will again be a contender in the wild wild west this year.  Having Austin in control over Barrett could be the best move in the clubs history. So many games were lost in the past due to bad play calling, and sticking with certain players for too long.  Yes they lost some big name players as you mentioned, but not enough to call it a 're-build'. It will be a competive year and people like Tilman and Austin are playing for their jobs and to prove they made the right moves.  Joseph can throw the ball and with Dominguez, Fantuz, and the others, it should be an exciting season

  3. They will suck, as usual.

  4. Ed Tate, the Winnipeg Free Press's football writer, wrote last week that deposed Rider GM Roy Shivers had left Tillman and Austin with a "trainwreck" because of his strange refusal to sign players playing out their option year in 2006. So a number of good players have departed due to his actions (or lack thereof) and a bit of deadwood has also been cleaned out. (Nate Davis, with his comments last season about just playing hard enough to make the playoffs, didn't exactly endear himself to fans. Kenton Keith is now the problem of the Indianapolis Police Department, as opposed to the Regina Police Service.)

Given how tough the first half of the Roughriders' season appears to be, I'm pretty pessimistic. Some pundits say it's possible that the team could be 1-6 by Labour Day.

  5. They are going to do very well this year.  A grey Cup appearance and with luck a championship!!!

  6. Like most people in Regina, I'm optimistic about the Rider's chances for success this year. I think the improvements that have been made are a step in the right direction. Tillman is a good football man and is beginning to put his mark on the team. It's good receiving corps, yes, but I've never been convinced that Joesph is a reliable, number 1 QB. As far as defence goes, they still have Fred Perry, Scott Schulz, Reggie Hunt, still have Richie Hall running it, so they should be okay. Davis was getting stale and his attitude sucked ***.

This might be the year that I permanently change my allegiance from the Stamps (I grew up in Calgary, but not a big fan of the team's showboating in recent years) to the Riders. Deep down, though, I want the Riders to win it. What a party in Regina that would be!

  7. Saskatchewan should be in another tough race for the playoff spot in the WEST with Calgary and Edmonton. It will be hard to win the WEST though with BC in the way. If they get in the playoffs they will have to hope for some upsets if they want to win the grey cup though.

But you are right, they will have a great passing offense with their great recievers. But their defense is pretty weak. They will need to rely on their offense to get the job done for them this year.

  8. I think Austin's going to struggle with implementing any sort of system offensively IF injuries become an issue in Regina.  That being said, I think they're going to be awesome with the Fast 5 pack - IF Joseph can get the ball to them.  Keeping Joseph in the pocket may be difficult.

Defensively, the question lies in the secondary.  'Riders have given up a tonne of yardage over the past 2 years with their secondary.  They may need to work the cuts in the next week or so if there's any question in their minds in the d-backfield.
