  1. Hydrogen burns in much the same way as other fuels.

Once you establish an injection/carburator type induction...it will function just fine in the usual 4-stroke motor

  2. " hydrogen can be created for hydrogen cars by splitting water via electrolysis. It only means that by using fuel cells to power hydrogen cars, that hydrogen and oxygen can be run through a cell (generating electricity and heat) and joined together at the end of the process to produce its only bi-product, water."

This was taken from an article at http://www.alternativeenergybase.com

  3. Hydrogen is the most explosive gas. It will leak through most hoses and connectors. It is not for an armature to experiment with. It is not very forgiven and will blow away your hole house.

  4. Combustion:

It burns in air just like a regular ICE

    electric:

It combines with oxygen in an expensive-*** fuel-cell to produce electricity, which drives giant ***-electric motors. VROOM

  5. BMW have produced an engine which can run on gasoline or hydrogen.  In switching to hydrogen it is necessary to adjust the valve timing.  http://www.usautoparts.net/bmw/hydrogen/...

    Edit

There are further details on engine modifications in the above link.

Properly engineered hydrogen systems are safe, in some ways safer than gasoline as the gas disperses straight upwards whereas gasoline vapours linger at ground level.
