  1. If Whales become extinct, we'll be in huge trouble. Here's why: Global warming affects Phytoplankton. Phytoplankton is the crop of our oceans that feed marine animals. When the temp. of water rises, photoplankton production decreases. NASA recorded a rise in water temp. from 1999 to 2004, and the photoplankton production dropped 200 million tons a year. Now for the answer: by the time the whales are extinct, everything lower on the food chain will have died off as well because of the lack of Photoplankton, which means the world's oceans will absorb less carbon dioxide because that's what photoplankton does. Which mean the world will be come warmer. In other words, you can't just take whales on their own into the equation. All living things on the planet are connected, but this connectedness is especially important in marine life for the planets (human) survival.

  2. society will extinct itself before whale's, so why are you asking the wrong question.  I ate whale's all my life, and they are more intelligent, nicer, kinder, vegetarian's, with language's that are more complex than people, and with radiance of aesthitic's more and varied than all other creature's combinded.  Whale's will never become extinct, human's may because of their war aptitude's, and acquisitive corruptionabilty's, and vanity's, and civilization worship.  Whale's are just intelligent, nice, kind, loveing, shareing, communicative, altruistic, large mammal's

  3. It depends on if the society is sane and functional.  Or if it is insane, self absorbed and dysfunctional, like America.  Here's a good question:  How will the complete meltdown of the American economy within 30 years affect society?  Will whales have any friends left after America turns itself into a third world nation?

  4. I was think no more whale oil for candles, but that's been said.

Whales going extinct will harm nothing any more than the Passenger Pigeon or Dodo Bird.

  5. Assuming in that whales will in fact become extinct, there will be little or no effect on society.

  6. Some day a space ship will come looking for the whales and when they dont find any, they will destroy the planet.

  7. any animal even mice if become extinct will effect all human kind

  8. It will affect our ecosystem.  Just like with any other animal, there are food chains.  Whales help keep certain fish and other small sea creatures in check.  They are also very beautiful!

  9. There will be no more whales.  I don't know about you, but this affects MY society plenty!  We love us our whales!

  10. Well, the Japanese will have to find some other way to get fake whale meat. Really folks, whale population has been increasing for decades and other than the Japanese & Scandinavian nations, no one hunts them anymore.
