How will this affect my running? ?

I am a sophmore girl on the Varsity Cross country team. I'm the second best runner on the team, but I pulled a tendon or strained something in my quad/knee that makes it hurt to run and sometimes walk.

My coach said to take three days off and come back and see how it is. We have a big meet next week and I need to be able to run!! How will this effect my speed?

  1. it may or may not effect you. if you've been eating healthy since you stopped running, that will help you. also, if you've kept the leg relaxed you probably allowed it to heal better. usually taking a day off can slow you down but not by much. when you get back start off slow then build on that as you go.

i hope i helped and i hope you do well!!

  2. It will have not effect at all.

  3. Wow, that sounds almost exactly like what happened to this girl on my team (same grade and EVERYTHING...freaky).  She's in the pool recovering and her doctor told her to not run on it for 2 weeks.  If you don't recover by your big meet, it will probably hurt a lot to run fast and, depending on how well you handle pain, this may or may not affect your time.  If you recover by that time, I really don't think it will affect your time at all.
