How will we know when we've 'won' in Iraq?

Many supporters of the war in Iraq insist we need to stay until we win-, im not really clear on how we will know if we've won- as the objectives for this war have changed many times- How will we know when we've won the war in Iraq?

We will never win the war as long as military contractors are calling the shots.

Well if it is the republican/neo-con who is to make that call, than the main factor will be that everyone is dead. That will signal that we have won.

I agree with LavaDog. I believe in a way, we have already won. We ravished that country, we can't just leave and be all like "well, it's been fun..." we are helping them train now. That's not to say that there aren't still some extremists who are stil trying to take the US down (like that's ever gonna happen) and shooting at us, but we will prevail...we always do.

We won the war long ago..Our military objectives(war) were accomplished long ago..

What remains now is to finish training the Iraqi Army and police forces so they can defend themselves..To build a military and police force for a nation the size of Iraq does not take 1 or 2 years..This takes time and this is why we are still there..

Please do not tell me you think that when the last US troop leaves Iraq we will be dancing in the streets here as if we have achieved victory..
