Well basically, in Years 7 and 8 I wasn't that interested in Rugby, but since I've been in Year 9, I've begun to enjoy it. I played a bit of it earlier this year in PE, but the problem is, I'm not exactly that good at playing. And I really do want to get better, how would I go about doing it?

  1. Play it, you don't get better without playing it.

Ask your local club if they have a youth team.

  2. I didn't take up rugby til i was 13 years old i now play at a good standard and have even graced Twickenham.

The first thing you should do is get down to your local club no matter how good they are, just start training and playing as often as possible.  Also i found some of the best ways to learn the rules was to actually watch rugby on T.V.  Some rugby on T.V gives tuitorial type sessions before games so the spectators watching can know whats going on.  But there really is no substitute to getting out there and playing.  Once you gradually begin to get better start to look for a club with a good reputation for their youth and senior section.  A club with a good senior section will generally have a good level of coaching staff and thus inturn usually use there younger teams i.e Colts as a feeder to there senior sides.

    Good luck

  3. go to your local rugby club, they probably have a youth section that you could join

  4. Hi. Just get down to your local Rugby club and get involved there. They will be able to train you and bring you on as a player. Best of luck. G

  5. join a team and start playing

  6. Join your school team. Join your local team, get a pair of boots, and go and play.

Watch a lot of rugby on TV as well, pick up techniques, let your coach assess you, and place you in a position, and watch every player at that position like a hawk. Just  watch, play and live rugby.

  7. Just keep playing, eventually you'll get better.

I wasn't that good the start of the season but I improved so much.

I'm going on a summer league to get even better for next year:)!

  8. local rugby club and after school training at your school.

im in yr 9 too, and its a great place to go train. u no ppl there and hav a laugh while you do it. hav fun, and the game will come to you. Also dnt chicken out of tackles-the bigger they are, the harder they fall. gd luck :)

  9. That's the great thing about rugby anyone of any size, speed and ability can play. I picked up a ball for the first time 6 months ago and have played in many matches since. As long as you join a club and commit to their training sessions, you will be good enough to play in next to no time. obviously it will take a lot of commitment and many years to be great, but the basics are easy enough to pick up, and the better the team you join (look at their match results) then the better you will be coached. Look on the RFU website for your local youth teams - www.rfu.com.
