Question:

How would I become a Conservative MP?

As I am increasingly sick of the appalling state of my country, I have decided that I want to do something about it. I don't really know how I would get into a position to do so however - I am seventeen and do not currently have the qualifications nor the knowledge neccessary for the job. I am starting an AS-level in politics this year, but what other qualifications would I need? Also, how would I gain that position within the party? I don't even know how I would join. Thank you.

  1. Become involved in a s*x scandal, prferably homosexual.

Start a company that goes bankrupt.

If you haven't been to public school tell people you have.

Get the mail order Charles Atlas Course and tell people you studied PE at an American University.

    .

  2. You are obviously not old enough to remember much about when the Tories were last in power.I suggest that you do a little research about the conditions that we had to endure under the Major government before you make any rash decisions.

  3. "The appalling state of this country" is largely a hangover from conservative politics - all the worst offenses of the current Labour government are borrowed Tory policies; privatisation, deregulation, unwillingness to tax big offshore businesses, outdated christian moralising...

Unless you are doing your AS levels at Eton, you're going to have to do a law degree and sit the bar exam, then hound your way into a seat like that loony Thatcher.

  4. If you are increasingly sick of the appalling state of your country(like millions of others) then why throw your lot in with either of the two so called big parties? These two parties are surely the main reason this country is in the state it,s in, after all for many years now, the party in opposition has just had to sit tight until the electorate gets sick of whoever is running the show knowing that their time will come. In the meantime the trough is there for them to make merry until they are the people,s choice again. If you have listened to some of the stuff cameron has come up with in the name of change, I can,t for the life of me understand why you would even consider joining him and his parasitic cronies.

Do yourself and all the rest of us a favour my friend and take a route that is far removed from the disgusting lot that make up the NEW labour and tory parties.

If you are going to be succesful neither of these disgusting organisations deserve you.

  5. Well I'm not a member of any party, but I think the Conservative party would be my last choice, more so like you being sick of government and wanting a change.  But to anwer your question, you first find their site, and sign up to become a member, you will have a fee to pay for this.  Then you have to become involved, go to meetings, get to know their agenda, etc, if you push yourself hard, you will get noticed, then chosen to stand as PM for your area, then you have to go knocking on doors and try getting everyone to vote for your party, and their agenda.

  6. Join your local party, I'm sure there must be a young conservatives, get involved, try and become a councillor, then an MP.

    Id suggest the BNP though.

  7. 1) Have a full-frontal lobotomy

    2) Join the party

  8. Whoever told you you had to know anything to be a politician?

  9. The first step would be to join the party (for an annual fee) which you could probably do through their website, after that go to as many meetings and debates as you can and get your self heard. Having said all that I hope that you decide not to because politicians are the scum of the earth, not one of them is there to help people, just move up the ladder of power

  10. 1st join the party

2nd wait a few years, then it will be your turn to be leader.

  11. You must not be interested in doing some good for people, all you need to be a Tory MP is a wish for power and status. You will need a posh voice, an arrogant attitude and minimal brains. It would help if you have rich parents and a private education.
