How would I benefit by having 2 Ethernet cards plugged in simultaneously to 1 modem with 1 isp?

I have 2 Ethernet cards on my computer, 1 isp & and a router. How would I benefit by having both Ethernet cards plugged in simultaneously?

  2. You would be able to set different programs to connect to the internet through separate cards. You would not be able to use both cards on the same program at the same time.

    I see no benefit at all from connecting the computer to the router with two cables instead of one.

    But I will be watching other answers to this to see if there is something I can learn from this :-)
