Can someone tell me how much it costs for a minor to legally change their name in the U.S.? and how to go about it...

  1. A name change needs to be initiated at the superior court level in your home state.  There will be a fee.  You will then need to notify insurance companies, Social Security Administration, employer, bank and other financial intuitions, etc. of what you have done to assure that no fraud is involved.  There should be no fee (except at your bank) for these notifications.  If the name change is as a result of a marriage/divorce/adoption then the paperwork involved in these actions will suffice to initiate the name change process.

    Now, in some special circumstances the Federal Government will handle all the paperwork for you.  Is your first name Luigi and does your last name end in a vowel?
