How would I choose references to reflect ones abiltiy to work effectively on an environmental committee?

I just went through something similar last week to provide references for a consulting job Im bidding on.

You need to look at the duties of the committee and find events in your past where you were called upon to use similar knowledge and skills.  Then you ask a person who knows and was happy with what you did and use them as a reference.
