  1. bnz is right.

It really is basic.  I built a plexiglass box and mounted a regular car stereo in it for my work shop, just to have something goofy I guess.  I ran it to a riding lawnmower battery (red and yellow together on the pos side so I have the clock always, and black on the neg side).  I have 2 6x9 loaded boxes with 120 watt Alpine speakers.  I only have to charge the battery about once a week and I only use the cd player part, as it would look pretty stupid with a car antenna sticking out of it!

If you want to hook up a house stereo to a car then you need to go to walmart and buy a power inverter.  A decent one is about 40 bucks.  You plug it in to the cig lighter and you have a house plug on the other side for whatever small item you have... (no microwaves or dryers or anything like that)

  2. well if your just hookin up a cd player. usually red is hot which means battery positve and yellow goes sometimes these colors are switched. it should have a diagram on the botttom of the cd unit to fuse box which keeps your memory like stations and stuff. and if your hookin up an amp. you have to get a fuse depending on what size amp you got.
