I am currently running an anime site www.animesanction.net and I was wondering what would make this site better and more active. We have plenty of content and try to keep updated as often as we can but it seems the activity of the site and the forums are very low.

At times we have over 100 unique visitors a day but lately it has been barely 40, what should we change about the site to make it more active and to make it more aesthetically appealing to the masses. If you have any specific ideas please let me know how to implement them.

  1. Hi...

There are quite a few ways to bring more traffic (visitors) to your website. I'll just tell you about three of the ways I use to do this. The first two work particularly well for me (page ones in Google and Yahoo regularly), and the third I'm still learning about, but I've had good results so far. :)

One way is by writing articles. This works exceptionally well. The articles can get you some great 'in pointing' links, and bring ongoing traffic to your site. However, you do have to make the time and commitment to writing the articles... But it's actually a lot of fun.

You're welcome to download a great free guide about how you can use article marketing to bring traffic to your site here:

The other thing I use is http://hurleypix.com/3wl  This costs a monthly fee - but it works very effectively at giving you very nice rankings in Google. It may be one option for you to think about. Look over the site if you want to learn more. :) It's powerful stuff.

Another option is by using web 2.0 sites such as Digg, Twitter, FaceBook, Craigs List, Stumbleupon, etc. You have to get 'in there' and communicate and learn about these sites, build your profile up, etc, but they are pretty good too at motivating people to come look at your website.

There's other ways as well including press releases and contributing in forums often. Hope this helps. :)

  2. Wow, you have done a lot so far.

There are several ways to get traffic. Think of getting traffic as a puzzle. You start with the easiest outside borders and then work on the harder parts.

Directory submissions (only the free and no reciprocal links or do not submit) You will need hundreds. Only do 5-7 a day so as not to get banned for link spamming.

Post on blogs. The posts have to be meaningful. I have two blogs and I am surprised at how many people who post "great site" and their link is to an ad site. I mark them as spam.

The one exception, my art blog, I only allow one word submissions as to what you see. Please post and I will give you a link.

In your name that you post your blogs under, change it to something that includes what your site is about. So include one of the keywords in your name. So when I blog on art sites, I will sign, "The UlteriorArtBlogger"

Put your link in your signature on all email.

    Post to forums.

    Write articles.

There are a lot more. Hope this gets you started.

    Best wishes.

  3. You can get traffic by trying a free traffic exchange service like TrafficSwarm at http://www.trafficswarm.com/go.cgi?56268...

    or WebCentreSurf at http://webcentresurf.com/?27972

Try StumbleUpon at http://www.stumbleupon.com and add your site to your favorites.

You can try article marketing at an article submission service like http://www.ezinearticles.com and link back to your website in the resource box for your articles.

You can also comment on popular blogs like John Chow's or Joel Comm's that allow linkbacks to your URL. Do a Yahoo Search.

Create a video and upload it to YouTube with your URL flashed on the screen. All of these are free.
