How would I find out if someone owns stock in a company?

  1. Unless they own more than 5 percent of the company, they are an officer of the company or a mutual fund or institution there is no way of knowing.  Furthermore most stock is held in street name, their brokers name.


  2. Unless you a stock holder and soliciting proxy information you can not obtain a list of stockholders

    A stockholders list is not public information and as such no one is entitled to the names that listed as stockholders.


  3. Unless they're an insider it's none of your dam business.

  4. Phone the company registrars (UK) or transfer agent (US). You will need the shareholder with you to give you authority. Otherwise you need to do a bit of bluffing. Otherwise write to company requesting a full list of shareholders (About £25 depending on number of shareholders)

  5. It sort of depends on who that someone is.  This site will provide that information on those someones who have a large position in companies or are insiders.  If you are looking for information on whether you neighbor owns stock in a company, most likely you will not be able to find out.
