How would I go about building a metal gear?

Say I had an unlimited budget (lol!) and wanted to build a real live working metal gear like in the games, how would I go about it?

P.S, it would be a REX-type vehicle and I would base my design on the mech from the game Ring Of Red .

Well, first you'd have to find some sort of materials that would make the whole railgun thing viable.  Although building a railgun is easy, making one that lasts more than one shot, and providing sufficient power for it is a different question entirely.  You'd also have to get around international laws prohibiting the trafficking of nuclear weapons materials.  If you can get a hold of some plutonium, deuterium, tritium and someone who knows what they're doing when it comes to building explosive lenses then that part might be manageable.

As to the chassis... I honestly have no idea.  Obviously the lasers and things are a no-go (whoever heard of a sweeping laser-sword thing).  With something that big... I guess it might be possible to let it be powered by a nuclear reactor, which can in turn power generators that can be used to run the hydraulic pumps and things.  There are some giant "walking" mining machines around, but they move at like 500 metres per day or something stupid like that.  I don't know whether it's possible to build something that big that's armoured enough to be useful, and yet still able to walk.  Probably not - even today's heaviest armoured tanks are useless in the face of most attack helicopters.
