  1. Actually forget what i said a minute ago, this is how it would be done:

    (x^2+10x+21)/(x+7)

    ((x+3)  (x+7))/(x+7)

    x+3

    so the answer is x+3

    hope this helps, and the long division is still a way of doing it and you get the same answer.

  2. (x^2+10x+21)/(x+7)=[(x+7)(x+3)]/(x+7)=x+...

  3. this isn't really college algebra at all, and the top person's right.

  4. (x² + 10x + 21) / (x + 7)

    (x + 7)(x + 3) / (x + 7)  [factor x² + 10x + 21]

    Answer: (x + 3)

  5. (x^2+10x+21) / (x+7)

    If you divide (x^2+10x+21) by (x+7) you get (x+3).

    (you gotta 'see' that 7+3=10 and that 7*3=21)

    To check it, multiply (x+7) and  (x+3) together: (Ignore the dots (·))

    · · · ·x + 7  ---> First multiple x+7 by 3 to get 3x + 21

    · · · ·x + 3 ----> Then multiply x+7 by x to get x² + 7x

    · · · ·-------

    · · · ·3x + 21

    x² + 7x

    ---------------

    x² + 10x +21  --->Then add 'em up.

  6. college algebra...?

    I learned this back in highschool. algebra 2.

    yeah, factor then NOT CANCEL, (x+7) should simplify to one with one of the factors in the numerator.

  7. factor out the top so its (x+3)(x+7) then cancel out the (x+7)'s

  8. i wish collage algebra was like that, i would've got a scholarship long ago! the top answer is right

  9. well, the top is just quadratics. so solve that first, then the rest will be easy :D.
