  1. Chances are he kept his first name if he wasn't adopted until after 2.  You can put his name and birthdate into online public records sites such as

    peoplefinders.com

    public-records-now.com

before giving them $ for the service use what info you get for free then go to free sites such as whitepages.com, zabasearch.com and try to locate address and phone # info that way.  His age will likely put him on sites such as myspace, classmates.com & reunion.com

I ran a quick search with the DOB & name and didn't come up with which looked like a good lead.  Chances are they may have changed the spelling of his name to the more traditional spelling.

    Good luck

  2. Have you considered hiring a private detective? My older sisters were given up for adoption and they hired a private detective and found us.

  3. First up - have your husband register his details here -

    http://www.isrr.net/registration.shtml

    And here -

    http://registry.adoption.com/

And perhaps you'll find some info to help - here - (click on the various states for info) -

    http://adopteerights.net/nulliusfilius/?...

I would think that you'd be best to check out social services in the state in which he lived - to get confirmation if he ever was actually adopted - or just remained in Foster Care.

    Good luck.

  4. Hi, I was adopted through Bucks County, so I can give you a few pointers. I'll also email you privately and give you the names and number of the contact at DSS you need to work with - she's a great woman and will give you a lot of help. I also have a lead for you. Sometimes the email through here doesn't work properly so if you don't hear from me by tomorrow try to send me a note here.

After you follow the fantastic advise from Possum, the next step your husband will need to do is file a waiver of confidentiality with the court and register himself with the State of Pennsylvania as a natural parent desiring contact.

There are a lot of steps involved but it's not that difficult. The best advice I could give you would be to join the PAFind list at

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pafind/

The folks there will walk you through it step by step. When you join you'll be sent instructions on how to do all this.

There's a number of us who on that list have gone through Bucks County  and will hang with you every step of the way.  I'm actually petitioning the court there again myself presently.

    Good luck.
