How would I go about getting a job on a cruise ship?

Hello.

I am a 17 year old from the UK. I am interested in getting a job as a drummer on a cruise ship, maybe for a year, or thereabouts. Does any body know how i would go about doing this? Who would i need to contact? Also, how old do you have to be to work on cruise ships? And if anyone knows, do you have to have any qualifications as a drummer to get a job? or do you have to be of a certain standard?

I would be greatful for any help you can offer me.

You can go on the website of the cruise ship you would like to work on and they list the jobs.

If you are looking to be a show band drummer in main lounge, you will have to be able to sight read.  The major cruise lines hold auditions and they will let you know where and when you would need to audition once you contact them through their respective websites.  If you are part of a band, you can apply for lounge band and won't have to sight read.  Those bands are hired based on type of music they play.

Many of these cruise lines have their headquarters offices in Miami, Florida, USA. But you can get more information about how they hire and when on their web sites. Many of the sites list actual open jobs as well as the process.
