  1. Make sure you set rules for your child, try and incoperate fun into their learning, keep lessons set to strict times, make sure they still have lots of contact with friends and people there own age.

    Good luck ;)

  2. Normally I would tell you to go the HSLDA website to find out about the laws in Georgia, but the website is down right now.

Later you might try going to

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?St...

I just found this other site, http://www.nhen.org/leginfo/detail.asp?S...  it shows the laws.  I want to point out that all the parent needs is a High School diploma, the only time the baccalaureate degree is needed is if you will be having a tutor teaching for you.  The law says you "may" hire such a tutor, not that you "must" hire such a tutor.

I don't recommend asking your local school, find out the laws first, then go file your intent.  Often people at the school don't know anything about homeschool law, and will sometimes do everything they can to try to dissuade you.

And let me just say that homeschooling is a wonderful choice, and you don't have to listen to the people who are telling you otherwise.

Its hard to say exactly what you need to do first without knowing the age of your child, but you might want to check out these sites:

    http://homeschooling.about.com/od/gasg/i...

    http://homeschoolcentral.com/support/geo...

    http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/regi...

    http://www.nhen.org/support/groups/brows...

  3. a local public school would also have this info//you just have to ask// their not handing this info out because the gov't pays for student attendance not homeschooling

  4. First, you need to know the laws for homeschooling in Georgia:http://www.ghea.org/pages/resources/stat...  Make sure you are in compliance with these laws.

Next, you want to have the support of at least one homeschooling association: http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/regi...

You also want to link up with a group of homeschoolers near you.  Google your town's name and "homeshool park day," or check out this link:http://homeschoolcentral.com/support/geo...

You want to figure out your child's learning style: http://www.chaminade.org/inspire/learnst... which will enable you to decide on the best sort of curriculum, if any.

Next, you will want to decide which form of homeschooling you will use, bearing in mind that you can combine techniques as needed and change techniques at any time: http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/meth...

Most of all: have fun!  Enjoy the journey!

    Be well.

  5. The public library was a great help to me.   The librarian helped me to connect to other homeschoolers in our area.

There were conference tapes available with variety of speakers as well as books with homeschool advice.

Most homeschoolers love to help a new homeshool family.

Edit:   And if anyone tells you that there is only one way to homeschool, run!  (smile)

Be open to all styles because only you will know what will work best for your family.
