This is the data I'm needing to graph, but I'm confused as to how to graph it.

a. mass of empty oil cup - 50.83 g

b. mass of empty water cup - 50.83 g

c. mass of cup and oil - 72.39 g

d. mass of cup and water - 74.96 g

e. volume of oil - 25.00 g

f. volume of water - 25.00 g

g. mass of oil - 21.56 g

h. mass of water - 24.13 g

i. density of oil - 0.86 g

j. density of water - 0.97 g

  1. Do c-a to get the mass of oil, and d-b to get the mass of water. Now make a graph with mass on the y axis and volume on the x axis. Your goal is to plot volumes and masses to determine their relationship. You have the masses and volumes of two liquids: oil and water. Plot two points (volume, mass), one for each liquid. You can guess that anything with zero mass will have zero volume, so you can draw a line from (0,0) to one point and then another line from (0,0) to the other point. You should get two straight lines. And without doing out any of the math I can guess that the line for water is steeper than that of oil. Why? Ask yourself what is the slope of a line? It's change in y over change in x, in this case, mass/volume. What does this quantity represent? Density!

  2. just ask the teacher.or mom.or dad.or grandparent.or guardian.
