I have an expensive full carbon fiber bike. I would like to ship it to where I am going but I dont know how or how much it would cost. It is less than 20lbs. However I am worried it will be damaged. How do I ship it? How much would it cost? and should I just sell it?

  1. I shipped mine from Victoria Canada to Washington DC.  I took it to a bike shop, they disassembled it, shipped it to a bike shop I picked out close to where I was moving in DC, the new shop reassembled.  Was probably $70 for the bike shops and another $70 for the shipping.  The bike shop can tell you what it will cost to ship and you can get each bike shop to commit to a firm disassemble/assemble price. Works great and so does the bike.

  2. Go to a bike shop, ask for a bike box. Then take off your pedals and loosen your heandlebar stem as well remove the seat/seatpost.Then turn the bar/stem so it is linear with the frame top tube.If it's still too long then remove the handle bar and let it hang,or stem too if needed.Feel free to add a few biking neccesities to the box.As long as the box is less than 50 pounds most flyers are allowed skiis or a bicycle for luggage. If there is a cost it is usually between 15-40 dollars US/Cdn.

Perhaps this is not an option for you.

I only hope my post can be of some help to you.
