well with number 2 its easy to guess and check......    what number added together equal 8 and subtracted equal 6.... the answer is x=7 and y=1

and with number 1 you can guess and check too. just think of numbers for the first equation that would make it equal 8 and see if they hold true for the second equation    the answer is x=1 and y=2

first off, line up the problem so x is under x and y is under y. then, get either variable to the same amount. in this case, 2x. cross them out. then subtract 8 and 6. so the result would be like this:

1y = 2

then divide by the variable on both side to get ur answer

3Y=2Y+2

Y=2

X-Y+2=X+Y

X-X-Y+2=X-X+Y

-Y+2=Y

2=2Y

1=Y

X+Y=8

X+1=8

3) missing info.. what does AB-BC=?

I will assume AB-BC=0

then AB=BC

AB+BC=AC

3(X+7)=2(X+30)

3X+21=2X+60

3X-2X+21=2X-2X+60

X+21=60

X=60-21

X=39

therefore

AC=AB+BC

AC=3(39+7)+2(39+30)

AC=3(46)+2(69)

AC=138+138

AC=276

so y=(-2x-8)/3

then plug that in for y in the second equation and solve for x. then plug x in to either one.
