x^2 - 11 - 24 = 0

  1. you need to find two numbers that add up to 11 and multiply to 24, then plug them in  


  2. You know (hopefully) that the factors of

    -24= 1x-24, -1x24, -2x12, 2x-12, etc.

    You need to pick out an equation in which the numbers, when you add them together, equal -11. Make sure you take into effect the negatives! That can really throw you off.
