Pretty good play, not really into shakespeare, but I had too.

essay topic:

The conflict created when the will of an individual opposes the will of the majority is the recurring theme of much literature. Analyze the conflict in the novel you read and discuss the moral and/or ethical implications for both the individual and the society.

would I write about Prospero and his conflict with magic?

  2. You could...but Prospero is mostly in conflict with the usurper Antonio, his will conflicted with the majority when he chose not to stay in the limelight and let his brother take control of his kingdom. Also Caliban (if you want to deal with such a complex character) Everything about him is in conflict with what the majority of humanity sees as acceptable. The teacher moght have been thinking of him when he/she wrote the question since he/she asked about the "ethical implications for the individual in society." As for the magic thing, Prospero uses it to control the lives and will of those around him. Those closest to him are always under his control, Miranda, Ariel, even Ferdinand. just some ideas.
