I bought it today, and I managed to light it but I found that I kept having to relight the flame, and also that the jet of flame was far too long - not concentrated as it should be. What are the correct operating instructions for this, and can you give me any advice on using it? Thank you.

  1. you would be better off with a gas one, although i used one of these years ago

  2. Take the nozzle off and clean the jets,Refit,Pour paraffin in,Then use the pump on the side,Light blowtorch and keep pumping,Better still buy a gas one much easier to use and safer.

  3. ONE LIFE IS RIGHT but DONT PUMP IT UP UNTIL IT HAS NEARLY BURNT ALL THE METH

THEY ARE A GOOD TOOL IF USED PROPERLY

  4. Hi Mate , I am not sure it a good idea to be trying out the blow torch, they were never a exact science when they where new and I had one, and ones this old are only good for show, but if you have to , today's paraffin is a little thicker and it possible that the jet needs pricking out , fuse wire is good for that, you may also want to look at the boar of the pump and the washer it may be letting by, apart from that there seems to be no other adjustment's, my advice is get a good gas one.

  5. Have you pumped it up to pressurise it?

  6. Your blowlamp should have a sort of dish area where you put methylated spirit then light it to get it to operating temperature, pump it up when it is hot and it will roar. They are completely safe although they make a fair bit of noise. Yes I just had a look  fill the little ring with meths and light it, wait till it has nearly run out of meths then pump and it should light. The little button on the side should be a pressure gauge, once it has as much as is safe the button will push out.

  7. Go with One life, I'd just add experiment outdoors, as if you don't get it hot enough you'll have a flamethrower - as you've found out.  When you get it right, you'll have a very hot, short, roaring flame.

Personally, I'd keep this as an ornament and use a gas one for practical purposes.

  8. you sure it not an old WNW II flame thrower some fool sold you

put it in the bin and buy a propane one before you blow yourself up
