  1. why would you want to leave, its like paradise there

  2. Yes, because they would have an opportunity and take it. Either that or they would control everything that happens there which is kind of the same thing just without military action.

  3. Most likely they won't, however, as the only local power now that Iraq is weak, diplomatic influence would be tantamount to controlling the government.  Why?  I think most Iranians couldn't answer that as for all practical purposes, there is no reason.  However, Iran is run by radical Islamacists  who believe God wants them to convert all Islam to Shia and who believe that they are destined to bring down western civilization and return to the "good old days" of the Dark Ages where the Islamic Caliphate was the main power in the Mediterranean world.   Irrational thinking of that sort means that anything is possible even if all of Islam becomes martyred to destroy it.

  4. It's an interesting question, but, may I ask you what made you think they will? did you read it somewhere?

    can you list your sources?

  5. Iran hasn't tried to "take over" another country since the nineteenth century, so the idea that they are itching to conquer Iraq is pretty strange to begin with.

They don't have  a military designed for conquering other countries.

They are already allied with the Maliki government, why would they take over a country with a pro-Iranian government?

Short answer: They wouldn't, because they have already achieved their goals in Iraq: the removal of Saddam Hussein and the installation of  Pro-Iranian Shiite government.

  6. FIRST.... not having a cohesive military / paramilitary force Iraq would be very vulnerable to an invasion..... but I doubt Iran would do that....

SECOND Iran is Shiite Muslim..... most of the people in Iraq are also Shiite Muslim..... it would be a simple matter for Iran to back an Iraqi Shiite take-over....Iran would then control or have controlling interest in Iraq.....this is their most likely path of power

Several other Middle eastern nations also have large Shiite factions..... it is possible for Iran to become the strongest power in the region......AND in a perfect position to carry out their threat to "wipe Israel off the face of the earth"

With our strong ties to Israel (economic and political).... we would end up in a bigger war.....possibly a nuclear war.....
