The House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC or HCUA, 1938–1975) was an investigative committee of the United States House of Representatives

In 1947, the committee held nine days of hearings into alleged communist propaganda and influence in the Hollywood motion picture industry. After conviction on contempt of Congress charges for refusal to answer some questions posed by committee members, the "Hollywood Ten" were blacklisted by the industry.

Eventually, more than 300 artists—including directors, radio commentators, actors and particularly screenwriters—were boycotted by the studios. Some, like Charlie Chaplin, left the U.S. to find work.

  1. He's stupid.  Don't vote for OBAMA!

  2. This is a negative mark on conservatism.

  3. Same way he fared with Affirmative Action... Aye O-Tay!!!!!

  4. We're endorsing witch hunts now?

  5. Better than bush & cheney.

  6. he would flip flop his way out of it and hide the fact he was a chairman for Ayres LOL

  7. A HUAC investigation would be welcomed as I'd like to see those who engage in political corruption suited-up in federal orange.

However, private citizens (though I loathe subversive covens), should be spared; if not, Seattle to Marin becomes a depopulated wilderness of concrete and steel.

  8. Just fine. Helping people better their lives through the political process is completely American.

  9. Being a former actress, I remember it well, Humphrey Bogart was also on that list.

Barry Soetoro would have been deported, seeing as he is not a naturalized citizen and still cannot provide a real birth certificate.

    McCain / Palin '08

  10. I'm sure he would be just fine, not having done anything yet.

  11. Not very well I'm afraid.

  12. I don't understand the point of your question!

  13. He would have failed miserably and been labeled as a radical with marxist leanings. He and his friend Bill Ayers would hopefully have been thrown out of the country or at least been blacklisted in every possible way.
