How would YOU raise money for endangered animal species?

I really want to start raising money for some endagered wild life species. But I have absolutely NO idea how to start. Any ideas/ suggestions?

write chain mail about the animal you are saving and what might happen to it if we dont do something about it. And get somebody to sponser, for example for every person that gets the email your sponser gives 3 cents! Then just send it 2 a bunch of people

Buy time on TV, radio or space in the newspaper and start crying and screaming about extinct of penguins on North Pole and total extinction of polar bears from South Pole.

The quickest and most basic way is to organize an event; cycling, swimming, cake eating, treasure hunt etc (just try to make it fun, imaginative and challenging as possible)

Then set up a campaign page on http://justgiving.co.uk/ and, as part of the system, get that sent to all your friends and family - and then they do the same.

Simple, fast, and works. I did an email campaign with some friends and we reached over 50k.

The only downside is that you cant specifically donate to a particular species, but to be honest, thats very difficult. And a misnomer - it is impossible to donate to animals as they are generally really bad with money.

What you can do is donate to an NGO that purely works with that species, or within a specific environment. Those are hard to come by, but they are definitely out there. You could try looking at http://www.wildlifedirect.org as their are a number of conservationists that blog there.

Sell tags, permits, safety training and gear....then open up a hunting season on non-endangered species ?
