How would a person install two outdoor atennas on the same pole connected to one feed line going to one tv?

  1. Why would you want to do that ? To just connect two antennas together like that would half the impedance of the antenna and reduce the efficiency .

    You could try a phased array though that are used in fringe areas ?

  2. Oh, that is NOT as simple as you would hope it to be....

    Connecting TWO antennas together is a nightmare....

    The reason it is, is the two antennas will interact with each other and one antenna could actually absorb all the captured signal from the 2nd antenna and actuallly make reception worse !!

    It needs to be tuned ...and that means one antenna has to be phsically moved while the other remains stationary and the RF signal monitored until it PEAKS....

    And then you have to test all the other channels .....

    It's actually SMARTER to get ONE antennna and make sure it's rated for a LONGER DISTANCE than you actually need....

    IF you need a 40 miler....GET a 100 miler.....Then slap an amp on it.....
