  1. depends on the situation.

you know when a lot of these american "masters" bang on about how they would break their opponents limbs or take out their eyes etc in a street fight?

well a spec ops commando who's had a lot of experience in the field probably would have found himself actually applying such techniques to resisting opponents. You're average martial artist would never have such an opportunity and has probably never found himself fighting for his life. That goes for pro fighters too.

As aggressive as a pro fighter maybe, chances are he has never had to kill anybody.

Not saying an MMA fighter can't fight dirty, but they would have less experience fighting in such a manner.

Anyone can say "I'd gauge his eyes out in a real fight" but in reality its not that simple. I doubt a pro fighter has what it takes mentally to do something like that.

In the ocatgon I would pick the MMA guy any day as special ops are trained to kill, not to submit opponents. But out in the field, if the special ops need to eliminate a pro fighter, it would only take 1 of them with minimal effort. Chances are they wouldn't mess about with hand to hand combat.

  2. mma probably win

  3. an mma fighter would win, i know guys that train 4-6 hours a day. and when put into combat they really know what they are doing.

  4. mma fighters are trained in hand to hand combat.  they are trained to fight without weapons and they practice it every day.  special ops are trained to scout land, be sneaky, kill with weapons and have mild hand to hand combat training just in case they need it if all else fails.  that being said an mma fighter would win 95% of the time. i mean royce gracie, back when he fought in no rules competitions even gave seminars and lessons to the US military, being that he is specially trained in hand to hand combat and military special ops are not. people are saying that special ops are trained to kill while mma is not... well if you hold a choke hold long enough the guy will die, thats why there is a ref in the ring to stop it.  if military people are so good at fighting why dont they fight mma fighters?  brian stann was a marine who just got his butt kicked in his last fight.

  5. Wow... never see this question...

    People! People! People!

I know that you all have this imaginary idea of people in the Spec Ops community being unstoppable killing machines, to some extent they are... with weapons.

They don't train to kill people with their bare hands on the regular, nor do they have any special technique known only to them as a means of killing people. They train hand to hand maybe once a week for an hour or so if that. Some do more, some do less, some guys learn stuff on their own. But regardless the vast majority of their time is training to fulfill missions in their area of expertise. They spend more time working on learning the foreign language of their theatre of operations then they do working any kind of hand to hand.

The real deadliness about them is the time and ammunition they use in becoming very proficient in the guns they use, and other guns they may come across, that is where they spend the hours.

Their conditioning is another thing that time is spent on, but not near to the level of a pro athlete.

A Pro MMA fighter trains for fighting 8 to 10 hours a day. It is all they do, it is their job.

Regardless of rule sets, the professional fighter is going to win the vast majority of the time. If you say we are going with high caliber pro guy, high caliber operator. Mainly because a pro fighter fights hand to hand, a spec ops fighter will use whatever weapon is handy, or whatever they can make a weapon to make the most effective use of it.

In a no rules UNARMED Fight, a pro fighter is going to beat a Spec Ops operator, because both parties can eye gouge, or kick balls, a pro fighter has the accuracy, range, and timing to do it more effeciently then the Spec Ops Operator who rarely uses any sort of hand to hand.

Life or death situation on the battlefield, if the spec ops isn't carrying a weapon, he will find one and more than likely use it more effectively than a Pro fighter who doesn't train with weapons. Hence an operator would do what he needed to do, however it wouldn't be easy, and he would take damage.

That is just simple reality, not the ultra invincible fantasy world where operators are superhuman killing machines, including specialized hand to hand... (here is a hint, they use MMA for their hand to hand, with a dash of Krav essentially).

So in hand to hand combat a Pro fighter who is a PROFESSIONAL FIGHTER is going to beat a Spec Ops commando who spends maybe 4 hours a month working any kind of hand to hand.

Now on the battlefield, a spec ops commando isn't dumb enough to engage in hand to hand... they will use a weapon, ANY weapon to it's maximum effeciency.

  6. trained to fight vs trained to kill???

    define win

  7. MMA fighters are specifically trained to fight in the ring with rules

Special Ops are trained to take out opponents in any given environment

MMA fighters wear gloves and only go as far as knocking out opponents cold

    Special Ops train to kill

Physically and psychologically its a completely different game

  8. There is nothing average about spec ops commandos.  They are trained to end a fight in the quickest way possible, and to h**l with any rules.
