Unemployment would rise.  Incomes would stagnate or decrease.  Government programs would be cut due to declining tax revenues.  As the pound declined in value, prices of imports would rise, along with prices for consumer goods.  International trade would decline.  Numerous industries would be in trouble, especially agriculture, shipping, and media.
