  1. Ask him out.  Why waste time playing the waiting game and make the first move.

  2. you ask him

  3. I know of a couple who got engaged quite quickly- the man's wife died, and six months later, the man was engaged to another woman. Rather hasty if you ask me. Don't know who initiated the courtship process. In the case of the couple that I knew, many people were appalled by what was considered hasty timing on behalf of the husband- it seemed disrespectful to his late wife. I personally also questioned the appropriateness of the relationship - was it out of sexual frustration? Did the man really have his head correctly on his shoulders, or was his grief catapulting him into a premature decision?

If this man has feelings for you, he may not want to be known as the rebound man. Anyone with a head on their shoulders would want a lasting relationship to be built on something lasting, rather than being built on fleeting emotions or panic. On the other hand, he may feel that there is a minimum amount of time before he should make a move - not necessarily to "let" you grieve, but to be respectful to your late husband.

If you are still wearing your wedding ring, of course, that would be a signal to any potential suitor that you are not ready to date yet.

But, if he knows you are crazy for him, and you have heard from him via email, why don't you ask him to have lunch or dinner some time - that is, if you are ready for a romantic relationship?

Either way, you won't know what is true unless you extend an invitation to this man. Maybe he just isn't interested and it has nothing to do with your husband's death. Good luck to you either way, and best wishes dealing with your loss. I hope this gentleman is interested in you, and that he is just giving you some space!
