How would air quality in 2008 compare to that in 1937?

  1. Air quality now is much better than in 1937.  Industrial emissions were choking our air supply and polluting or water and we had no standards or controls in place.  

    We all want clean air and water, no matter what your political persuasion.


  2. worse, however since I was not alive in 1937, that would have to be an educated guess.

    But where i live now, the air quality is better than it was in 1997 where I used to live.

    many parts of the country have better air quality than others.

  4. I recall first hearing of smog related deaths about 1951. There likely were some before that, and there may even have been more than mentioned.

    But for sure my own province of Ontario did not start reporting smog deaths for several years, and now we report 3000 or more a year.

    Reporting does not imply reality. but back in 1937 we did not have the amount of coal fired electrical generation.
