Datsyuk-Hudler-Holmstrom

Zata-Samuelsson-Filppula

Franzen-Hossa-Cleary

Draper-Kopecky- Maltby or Helm

I am sorry, but If you could split lines up like that and have Datsyuk- Zetternerg and Hossa all on different lines with something like that line combo... which line does the opposing coach use his top 2 pairs of Defense on?

I just find that almost impossible to line-up against for any team. What do you think?

  1. They couldn't stop them last year even with Datsyuk and Hank on the same line.. so whats to stop them this year?

  2. first you'll need a hot goalie(hot as in playing great not as in looks). Then i think all you can do is give your first pair a lot more ice time.

  3. Since we only have to play them twice and the first game is the opening game of the season. This will be a piece of cake.

The Kazinskies (with or without Mats) will face off against the Zetterberg line.

The Waterbugs will drive the Datsyuk line crazy.

The S line will out skate and out manoeuvre the Hossa line no problems.

Any handful of Marlies will beat Drapes before he's in shape.

Later in the year injuries will make the difference.

    Let's go Teeeeederrrrr.

Ya know Nips you are so smart. This should be sent to Babcock maybe he'll find a spot for you on the bench.

  4. Pretty much what they do with all the other teams - top 2 defence pairs get the bulk of the ice time. Your 5'th and 6'th defencemen aren't going to get more than 10 minutes anyway.

Lineups are never written in stone anyway, so I imagine this combination will get a look-see at some point in the season.

  5. Hi

The opposing coach would need to lite a fire under the but of his team.

That way the temperature raises and creates bad ice conditions. This leads to poor passing and slow skating, Bringing the Mighty Wings back to Earth.

If the coach is Therrien then he will spend extra time saying they are obstructing his players, not actually coaching his players though.

    Thank You

  6.   As the saying goes.. you can't stop them.. just slow them down a bit.  I would say one team.. possible my team has a chance to with Nieds, Prongs, Frankie, Huskins Odonnell and Montador.. Oh yeah.. some guy named Giggy too.  Layer that with the shut down line of R. Nieds, Moen and Pahlsson and we can see what happens.

Seriously.. can't wait for the Ducks / Wings rivalry to start up again.

  7. Melt the ice. That'll stop em.

  8. True they are heads above the rest of the league with the 4 lines they have, but Chicago seemed to have the answer all last season.. With the addition of Campbell you think these guys will only improve on D..

If the rest of the Central (with the exception of the Blues) ever figures out how to stop the easy ones from slipping away, your Wings will have some competition for the top spot there Homer..

And as long as you have Lidstrom bouncing 'em in from the red line, theres not much need for quick line changes-- ( I knew you'd like that one).. LOL..

As armchair coach (for Nashville), I match Hamhuis  up with Lidstrom when ever he is on the ice if at all possible..Nick is the set-up man-- he is the biggest threat IMO.. Otherwise-- Roll the  Weber/ Suter pairing for the top 1 or 2 lines.. DeVries and Koistenen (Zidlicky last season)alternate out with Hamhuis for the #2 pairing.. Zanon is the floater (probably with Koistenen mostly) for the 4th line pairings.. This was the pairings for games 3,4, & 5 of the first round last playoffs.. Why Trotz changed the approach for game 6 is beyond me-- 2 wins and 1 OT game..

That being said-- Detroit will still win the Central and have a 50 win season.. Presidents Cup contender and Conference champ frontrunner..  No denying the obvious-- but there is also no assuming the future..  Just ask Steinbrenner..
