  1. long time ago, i saw an exhibition match between jeanette lee and efren reyes ... of course, this is still a sport dominated by men, efren reyes won the match easily ... and the last ipt north american 8-ball championship composed of male and female players ... again, i'm not so sure though, the last 18 survivors were all men ... that's the way it is!

  2. the woman would WIN

  3. You might find it hard to believe, but the potting instinct is far more developed for male players; this game does not require strength, so the difference is made by the way the competitors look at it. For women it is just a game of putting the balls in the holls but for our male it represents the age old struggle to score.

  4. Being that we are all equals when we stand before the cue ball, I think it would come down to whos ON that day.  I would give a slight advantage to the men for "breaking", but after that who knows.

  5. They should compete evenly. I don't see any natural advantage a man would have over a women in pool.

  6. The men professionals would win

    Male professionals have had:

    1)  More years of total combined experience

    2) More people competing for the top spots.

I think the required concentration factor, too, has helped the pro men more

That being said, as a GOOD  amateur (Man), I will NEVER  forget getting my @ss kicked by a woman who dominated the table by using a soft stroke and ball speed / positioning vs.  my forced english and draw.

(I am not sexist... I ust appreciated how good she was, and her talent and focus)

She was a great competitor, and I learned a lot from her.

  7. There is no advantage being a man in pool. Some of the good looking females may even have a slight advantage being a distraction.

  8. The way I see it is this.  In theory, there shouldn't be any signifigant difference between the sexes for a game like pool.  If you were to have a mixed professional tour, I believe that the very, very best women such as Karen Corr and Alison Fisher would frequently find themselves in the top 10.  However, I think that more often than not, men would still be finishing first and dominating the top 10 spots.  I take this from statistics, such as break speed, frequency of run-outs, etc.  There have been attempts to encourage co-ed play, but surprisingly, it's been the women who opposed it more so than the men.  And it makes sense.  If I was Alison Fisher, I wouldn't want to give up being number 1, 90% of the time.  Think how many professional titles and prize money that she would lose if co-ed play were the norm.  This is in no way a slight on women players.

  9. They compete on regular basis in open tournament formats and the women don't fair very well; including Karen Corr and Allison Fisher.

  10. Very well I think.

  11. .....i have played the game of pool for 35 plus years..have seen the best in both sexes..its not your gender that makes better or best..its your ability to play the game....
