  1. Yeah that is something to look at.They go into detail about  all aspects of the school and it gives a pretty accurate description of the school. Also you should ask other parents of children at that school what they think, get as many opinions as you can, good luck.

  2. Dont necessarily choose on that has great achievement results look at the write up about how happy the children are at the school and how happy the parents are - that is how you choose a good school - if the child is happy then they are more likely to achieve their best.  Good Luck!

  3. The report gives you a good indicator of the quality of the teaching, however you also need to look at the pastoral care of your child and how good that is. It makes a child feel secure and want to learn if they feel valued. You also need to see the atmosphere of the place yourself and how the classes are arranged and if this fits in with your ideals. Then finally there is the " does the coat get dropped at the front door test" is your child really keen and interested when you visit and does your child want to join in?

  4. Look at ofsted but also talk to parents of children who go there. If you don't know any parents ask the local paper if they have heard any rumors or negative stories about the school. Also find out what the staff turnover is. If it's a good school teachers will stay put.

  5. Good place to start and you can arrange visits, talk to teachers , governors , be shown round the school and you can speak to some of the children all of whom will be able to give you the information you require to make that important decision.
