How would cohesiveness and spirituality plat a role in different environments in an organization(10 POINTS )?

  1. Group cohesiveness tends to direct individual actions in parallel with the others in a group. Henry Mintzberg found this to be an advantage for leaders/managers whom were liked by the group they managed over and above groups which had no cohesion. On the flip side, he found that managers had better luck  with non-cohesive groups when the manager was not liked by the group of subordinates. So, cohesiveness is like a loaded gun which can point either way.

      Spirituality could serve as a point of cohesion. An effect called "homophily" is the fact that we as humans tend to form stronger relational bonds with others like our selves. Spirituality would signal this similarity and precipitate a close relationship in that we feel that another is of a "like mind" as ourselves.  You could make a case that cohesiveness is a the same as a group of individuals of which have strong bonds.  

      This would hold for any environment according to these theories.
