What's the method you would use? If it's a chrome lined?

I used the fire one round and clean for the first 25 shots, then every three for the next 25 and then every five for the next 50. But I know there are other ways. What's another way that's just as effective but isn't so d**n time consuming? You know, if I ever get another one.

And do you just need to run one wet patch and two dry every time you fire one round if they come out clean? Or more than just three patches?

  1. No break-in required, just shoot it.*

  2. Sounds like you have it well under control. 1 wet and a couple of dry should be fine. And a complete clean at the end of the session.

  3. Chrome lined barrels need no break-in other than shooting.

Moly and stainless barrels should have break-in as follows:

Fire 1 rnd & swab barrel several times with quality copper bore solvent, lightly oil swab barrel, fire 1 rnd and repeat for 10 rnds.

Fire 3 rnds & swab barrel several times with quality copper bore solvent, lightly oil swab barrel, fire 3 rounds and repeat for 12 rnds.

Fire 5 rnds & swab barrel several times with quality copper bore solvent, lightly oil swab barrel, fire 5 rounds and repeat for 20-30 rnds.

Clean and oil weapon and let cool overnight,

    Break-in complete

  4. For chrome lined barrel, clean it from factory, shoot the thing, clean it when your through shooting for the day.  Don't forget to keep the bolt carrier lubed.
