Question:

How would english be needed for Economics?

at my school, in order to take an economics course, you need an english course. why would this be?

(its grade 12 economics and you need grade 11 English)

  1. it is easier to learn economics in English. i think? and there are many words that cannot be explained?? ahaha and economics is worldwide why not try English


  2. I think you will find that most economic writing and texts are in English and at a fairly high grade level of understanding. If you cannot read at higher levels of English it could be very hard to follow. But I think that would go for most academic writings.

  3. Probably just a silly requirement to guarantee the number of students taking English for staffing purposes.  That's almost always what determines a school district's policy regarding "required" classes.

    Or their concern may be the number of French-speaking students in your neighborhood, but a language competency exam should be enough to assure that students would understand the course material.

    I'm fascinated that the US and Canada manage to require four or more years of formal instruction in what is actually our native tongue!!
