How would get western music in Communist Poland?

How would get records and tapes? Did radio station play the full Album?

They got it from friends in western europe. How got the Popolskis (German comedy group) into Pop-Music (they are insisting that Jerzcislaw Popolski was the founder of Pop-Musik (just joke). But seriously, my last name is  "Kaminski"; have you got any idea who was the first one having this name, because in my hometown in Germany there are more than 120 "Kaminskis" which I'm not related with.

Now to be serious, the polish boarder is only 50 kilometers away from Berlin. Radio stations like AFN or RIAS Berlin, broadcasted on long wave radio to be heard all over Poland.

Furthermore tapes have been smuggled on international trains, like the Berlin - Moscow Express, running through Poland.

If you have such an innate fascination with communism then do some reading on it, but accept that this is now well and truely an historical chapter in the history of Poland, and from the Polish people I know, then one that they are not too enthusastic to discuss at great length

Poland today is far more interesting in my personal opinion.

Sorry to inform you, but Poland was one of the first countries to become independent from the Soviet Union and on the way towards democracy and free markets. As a matter of fact, Poland is now a member of the European Union.

This happened in the latter part of the 80's as well as the downfall of the Berlin Wall in 1991.

By the way, not only Poland is a free country but so is a host of other countries such as the Checz Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Latvia, Estonia and Luthuania to name a few. Hope this answers your question.
