could you just imagine how much different eberything would have been if Cliff Burton never died.i bet Metallica would have never stepped down from Thrash Metal but they did and became a Heavy Metal/Hard Rock band.I think Jason Newsted had more with metallica being called "sell outs".every other bassist they had contributed thrash to the band nut jason made them appear in a totally different category.Yea St Anger wasnt that good but at least it was heavier than all the albums with Newsted.See Cliff taught James and Kirk how to theorize and harmonize.he used distortion and the wah-wah pedal to create the most awsome sounds

HE IS THE BASS GOD !!!!!!!!! HE COULD OF RUN THE BAND WITHOUT LEAD GUITARIST !!!!!!!!!!

sorry got caught up in the moment cause i miss Cliff

no but seriously how different would have metallica been

quote by James Hetfield

"without Cliff we wouldnt be where we are today"

its all true

  1. It's a sad thing that the world lost one of the best metal bassists ever. I truly believe Cliff made Metallica so much more of a powerhouse than any other "Joe Bassist" could have. So, what do I think if Cliff wasn't lost? I think Metallica could have been even bigger than they are now. But in a different way. I think they would have been more raw and kept away from the mainstream. Like they were before Cliff died (obviously). I think they would have been huge outside of the mainstream. It's true what James said. Without Cliff they ended up in the place they are now. If he hadn't died, they would be in a place like they were in '86. Just bigger. That's just my thoughts though. Cliff is still my favorite bassist of all time, just because no one could bring it like him. He completely had his own style of playing bass, that to this day amazing me.

RIP Cliffy! Hope your rockn heavens pearly gates up there!

  2. They wouldn't be Alternica!!

  3. I think they wouldn't have been such big sell outs if Cliff was still alive and still in the band.  I don't know why, but for me they really went down hill fast when Cliff died.  The first 3 albums are pretty much the only ones worth having.

  4. It's hard to say how different the would be. I liked Cliff, but I love Metallica. Would they have been better? Probably...too bad that we'll never know.

  5. Yea, they might have been better and oh my...he was great....

    RIP

    Cliff Burton
