I currently supply local fish & chip shops (around 40tonne/1600 bags a week) and would like to see if its possible to approach local schools with the intent to supply them with my product. We pride ourselves on the local quality of our produce and maintain a competitive price even thought the market fluctuates daily.Basically i have no idea how to go about it and would like to hear the views of business minded people who have perhaps experienced such a problem in the past.

Kind Regards,

Paul

  1. You just need to know who to talk to who makes that kind of decision, then cold call them and ask them if they would be interested or if you could take a moment of their time and pitch them. You will need to find out first who to talk to; you don't want to approach the wrong person who has no bearing on whether your product will be allowed or not.

  2. The public school systems typically have a supplier application process and vendors have to submit their bids for the contract.

This is the vendor solicitation section for Fairfax County VA http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpsm/solic.... -- this is the place they put requests for proposals for public school system should they need one

I suggest you approach the school principal of the school in your county and ask that you be directed to the right person handling vendors like you
